2011 Tour will be on sale soon - please see the following pages from our 2010 tours for information only.
No matter how many times one watches the former 'Rally of the 1000 lakes', the sheer spectacle never fails to impress. Watching a WRC car hurtle flat out over a 6th gear crest, landing some 40 or 50metres later in a flurry of sparks and gravel, never loses it's impact.
Rally Finland is the fastest rally in the WRC, and the myriad of gravel roads provide many access points to the stages which coupled with our 40+ page Rally Info Pack and Map Book will ensure you get to the best of the amazing high-speed action.
So whether it's self-drive, motorhome hire, or our fully escorted tour well make sure you're 'stage-side' to see the best action in the WRC as Mikko, Seb, Jari-Matti, Petter & Kimi go head to head over the best stages in world rallying.
New for 2010... The rally returns to it's 'Jyvaskylan Grand Prix' roots with the forest stages taking place over 2 action-packed days in 2010, running late into the evening on Friday and finishing on Saturday afternoon prior to some big 60th Anniversary celebrations that evening!

2009 Itinerary - Friday Stages visited in 2009...
In 2009 after a visit to the shakedown stage, service area, and the Killeri Super special stage we joined the rally-proper on Friday morning with a visit to the Palsankyla Stage where there is one of the largest jumps of the rally, just a couple of kilometres from the end of the stage (see photo right!)
In the afternoon we headed back towards the Hotel Keurusselka and the new opening section of the Kruununpera stage, which gave us good access back to Jyvaskyla afterwards.
After these 2 stages we visited the final service area of the day in Jyvaskyla - making it a total of 4 times that we'd seen the rally cars in the past 24hrs.
2009 Itinerary - Saturday Stages visited in 2009...
An early start to an action-packed Saturday saw the group visiting the classic 'Moksi' section of the awesome Surkee stage where an agreement with a local farmer allowed us to park the buses within gravel-throwing distance of the stage!A short transfer after the Surkee stage took us to the atmospheric end of the challenging Himos stage where several clients saw Mikko Hirvonen's tyre roll off the rim in front of them! There was time for lunch and a 'Koff' (Finnish local beer!) before the coach departed, after the last competing car, towards our 3rd stage of the day.
An early arrival at the new Kavala stage gave our guests time to either watch at the nearby junction or walk back into the stage to a super-fast section of classic Finnish rally road which our Rally Travel Guides had unearthed on their 'recce' the week before.
Finally after around an hours transfer back to the hotel the group arrived in time to get washed and refreshed before settling down and watching the final Super-Special stage of the day live on the restaurant's big screen TV. So... 3 separate stages in one day & all of them real classics!
2009 Itinerary - Sunday Stages visited in 2009...
2009 saw the return of the legendary Myhinpaa stage which we visited for the first spectacular running in the morning - accessing the classic 'big road' switchback section in the middle.
Then, as a final treat for our guests the tour concluded with the final stage of the rally Ruuhimaki - and one of the most iconic sections of the rally, the series of jumps towards the end of this classic '1000 Lakes' stage.
After seeing this last stage of the rally & and a final visit to the service area we returned back to our hotel for a spot of R&R and then on Sunday evening we ran the coaches into Jyvaskyla for the group to join in with the Drivers and Teams celebrating their successes (& failures!) amongst the town's bars and restaurants. A great, albeit very late in some cases, end to a great weekend of rallying...

SS13 URRIA 10.00km
First car due: 11:42
Urria returned to the rally route in 2003, for the first time since the 1980’s, and has always been known for it’s legendary jump, which has been the downfall of many an aspiring Finnish rally champion in the past. The stage had entered rallying folklore, and it was always thought unlikely to return in this modern era of the WRC.
However after a lengthy absence it did return and, as predicted by the old stagers, there was some carnage further down the field with young Welsh JWRC driver Leon Pesticcio coming foul of the big jump in his Fiat Punto. He got full marks from the large crowd for effort, style, and execution, but unfortunately the radiator and front-end of the Punto paid the price. An approach speed of 99kmh (normally a radar speed gun and display here) proved too much for Juuso Pykalisto’s Peugeot 206 as well, which broke the rear screen and spoiler on impact!
We found that due to the severity of the drop (it really is like the bottom of a ski-jump!) most of the top crews do go over it quite slowly, but there is bound to be someone later down the field who feels the need to really attack it this time. It’s the vertical distance that the cars must drop down after the crest which makes it stand out, rather than the speed or the distance the cars fly through the air.
The stage is located 20-30 minutes drive from the Hotel Keurusselka just south of the main road to Jyvaskyla, approx. 7km prior to Petajavesi. The stage begins on a narrow road before turning 90-degrees right on to the larger main road heading south-west towards Urria. Around halfway along this section is the infamous jump, which needs to be approached with caution even at normal road speeds for those wanting to have a look prior to Saturday, in fact it’s the only place marked with an exclamation mark in the recce roadbooks!
The famous jump is 6.1km into the stage but there are some other excellent, less crowded, sections elsewhere in the stage. To be honest we would recommend these instead of the big jump for those people arriving within 1-1.5hrs of the start, as there was very little room to stand nearby last year after a couple of hours prior.
We used the following access roads last year:
1. Coming along the main 23 road from the Hotel Keurusselka heading towards Petajavesi you will cross over the railway approx.15km outside of Keuru town.
2. Turn right signed “Huttulansalo” (small brown sign)
3. Then 50metres either proceed straight-on for 2.4km to access the stage at a good section with 3 small jumps or walk left for approx 1.5km to another good fast section. (The big jump is 1km heading right along the stage from the access point)
4. At point 3 above (just 50m off the main road) you may be able to turn right and then 0.8km turn left to “Hakamaki”
5. 1.5km further on straight-on past turning to “Lentokentta” then 1.3km to stage access point. This is nearer the big jump (just 300m down to the right) and at a fast section past some buildings. The access road to this point is narrower than the earlier one and unsuitable for those with motorhomes.
In short, it is a great little stage with plenty to offer other than the main jump.
